Multipurpose vehicles should be filled with practical, comfortable features so they can serve the wide variety of needs an average family has to deal with, and that’s exactly what the 2024 Kia Carnival offers. It has a roomy cabin, and even the base model is packed with highly desirable standard features. It’s easy to see why Car and Driver rated the Carnival 9 out of 10 and put it on the magazine’s 2024 Editors’ Choice list.
Introducing the 2024 Kia Carnival: Family-Focused Design
Design
The Carnival has an upright boxy look similar to Kia’s well-regarded Telluride SUV. The combination of a tall roof and low floor results in ample space for a wide range of purposes. Standard removable sliding seats in the second row are a big help with that, too. Heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals are also included across the line.
Even the lowest LX trim has a tri-zone climate control system to provide all occupants with their preferred temperatures. The solar glass installed in the windshield and front door windows also helps keep everyone comfortable by reducing the amount of heat accumulating inside the cabin.
Performance
A 3.5-liter V6 engine with 287 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque powers all models of this lineup. It’s matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission featuring an Eco-Drive Mode.
The Carnival is front-wheel drive and has an estimated fuel efficiency of 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on highways. Remote Start, Smart Key, Push Button Start, Hill Start Assist, and Downhill Brake Control are all standard. You can even use the Kia Access app to pre-heat or pre-cool your Carnival before entering it.
Technology
A six-speaker audio system with SiriusXM is standard in the 2024 Carnival base model. The infotainment system sports a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with voice recognition, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity for multiple devices, and a WiFi hotspot. A USB data port is in the front console and each row has two USB-C charging ports.
Kia has a smart connectivity system that can integrate with your phone, smart speaker, or compatible iOS and Android smartwatches using an embedded modem. The app can automatically call 911 if an airbag is employed, give you maintenance reminders, and more.
Safety
Kia has installed some very advanced driver’s aid and safety features even in the lowest trim level of the line, such as:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Front and Rear Park Distance Warning
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Lane Following Assist
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Lane Departure Warning
- Highway Driving Assist
- Smart Cruise Control
- Intelligent Speed Limit Assist
- Rear Occupant Alert with Ultrasonic Sensors
- Driver Attention Warning with Leading Vehicle Departure Alert
- High Beam Assist
- Safe Exit Assist
